Welcome to my Blog

” So a couple spending 4 weeks in Europe with a budget of $30,000 including flights….” “excuse me?” I said horrified. At that point I realised I was most definitely not on the same page as the time share seller I was talking to.
Hi there! – and welcome to my blog!
I’m Steph – an Aussie, a nurse, and an avid traveller. I’ve been lucky enough to explore over 55 countries, mostly as a solo female adventurer… although, let’s be honest, luck has very little to do with it.
I tend to go a little stir-crazy if I haven’t planned a getaway, and I usually have at least one (okay, three) trips in the pipeline.
Over the years, I’ve heard it all:
“Wait, you’re going overseas again? Didn’t you just get back?”
“How can you afford to travel so much?”
At first, I’d just laugh it off—different priorities, right? But then came that conversation with a time-share seller who casually mentioned that couples were spending upwards of $30,000 travelling around Europe.
I was shocked… and intrigued. So I did what any travel-obsessed person would do: I Googled it. Turns out, he wasn’t far off.

Suddenly, those comments I’d heard over the years made sense. Compared to some people, I’ve always travelled differently—budget-conscious, experience-focused, and always chasing the next big adventure over luxury. I’d rather stretch a dollar across multiple countries than splurge on one fancy resort stay.

My love for travel started early. I was seven when I first went overseas, thanks to my parents—both passionate travellers themselves—who saved and budgeted so we could explore the world as a family. We camped across New Zealand, moved from relative to relative in England, and stayed in roadside motels during a Canadian road trip. It was all part of the fun.

Since then, I’ve lived in England for over four years, camped across four continents, and never minded how I got somewhere—as long as I got there. From sleeping under the stars to roughing it in the wild, those moments have become some of my most cherished memories.
I love outdoor activities such as hiking, camping, skiing and scuba diving—and I’m also a total bookworm and history buff.
With travelling for so many years for long stints at a time and with decision fatigue being a real thing, I was sick of looking for information on other blogs for destinations that had very little information about the places, were full of just straight up tourist traps or the worst one- itineraries, where if you actually knew that city they were talking about- were absolutely terrible!
And when reading some of them, knew those bloggers hadn’t actually been there!
So after many many years, I decided I would start a blog, with places and information about places I’ve actually been, experiences i’ve actually had and vital information for everyday travellers like you!

Here on the blog, you’ll find:
